Computer/iPad ConnectivityReflection.png
A number of tools are available to connect your desktop/laptop and your iPad/ios device. Depending on the task the user is trying to accomplish, it might be worth exploring the offerings of the tools listed below:

Links:
  • Reflection App (install on both your computer & iPad): http://www.reflectionapp.com/
    • Advantages--this app will display the content of your iPad on your desktop/laptop that can then be projected, captured via a screen capture program with dictation, etc.
    • Disadvantage--both devices must be on the same wireless network.
  • Splashtop: (install on both your computer & iPad): http://www.splashtop.com/
    • Advantages--this app allows the user to display and access the content of their laptop--the iPad looks like the desktop of the computer that is being accessed with Splashtop. This is what some schools are using as a "work around" for the problem with flash based web sites.
    • Disadvantage--can often be slow and finicky depending on network traffic.

Equipment Needed:
  • Mobile device with iOS 5 running airplay mirroring, iPhone 4S or iPad 2 (and later)
  • Projector
  • Wireless Network/Network Connection both devices must be on the same wireless network
